Located 10 km from Charleville-Mézières (N-W), Montcornet is a village of 335 inhabitants and is best known for the remains of its medieval fortress. After the castle of Sedan, it is probably the most impressive medieval site in the Ardennes. Situated on a rocky spur (formerly called the "Mont Cornu"), this stone colossus is said to date back to the 11th century. Visits are organised from March to October. There is no stream running through the village but ponds all around the castle.did you know? The historian Jules Michelet says he found his vocation by visiting the castle, which he describes as a "feudal coliseum".Info + : hiking trails (walking, mountain biking and horse riding) pass through there ....
