EGLISE SAINTE-COLOMBE

The oldest mention of the church of Sainte-Colombe dates back to 1109, in the will of Aldebert II de Peyre. This church is dedicated to the martyred saint of Sens, called Saint Dove
Romanesque in style, it blends perfectly with the landscape of the churches in the region. Its homogeneity and simplicity, coupled with a three-bay comb-shaped bell tower, are typical architectural features of Aubrac churches. From its architecture with very rectilinear forms, emerges the entrance portal on the west facade surmounted by an oculus

The interior of the church remains sober, it has a single vaulted ogive. Only the bays stand out from the homogeneity of the walls because they are marked by wide vaults and columns in large granite units. At the doors of the choir, there is a statue representing the martyred saint of Sens, Saint Dove, the church's vocational title. In the choir, there is a magnificent statue of Saint Privat and a Christ on the Cross.
