History
It was in 1884 that Paul Baudry, assistant manager of the spinning mill, one of the most powerful textile mills in the region at that time, bought an orchard from Mr. Zurcher to build a mansion. Built of Vosges rubble and surrounded by a park, the villa was completed in 1885.
In 1948, the Mines de Potasse d'Alsace became the owners and leased it to the Sécurité Sociale Minière.
In 1990, the town of Cernay acquired the villa in order to preserve this heritage site and plans to set up a media library. This was completed in 1999. The media library opens to the public with 15 000 documents on a surface of 850m² on 3 levels.
