The memorial is located in Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle, at the intersection of Route Nationale 918 and the old Saint-Jean-de-Luz road.
The memorial was inaugurated on May 27, 2023. It is a project of the Anai Artea association, in collaboration with Udalbiltza, the association of mayors of the Basque Country.
It recounts the 22 most important events over the past 40,000 years, including the Roman occupation over 5 centuries, the wars of 14-18 and 39-45, the Spanish Civil War of 36-39, etc...
