In the Citadel of Blaye, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, La Citadelle municipal campsite enjoys an exceptional location. Walk along the ramparts of the "Verrou Vauban" and enjoy the view of the Gironde Estuary, the largest estuary in Europe. In the distance, you will see Île Nouvelle, Îles de Patiras and Fort Pâté and the famous Médoc vineyards on the opposite side of the shore. Sheltered by the ramparts, the 36 pitches of La Citadelle municipal campsite are dedicated to wilderness camping: pitch your tent, set up your caravan or park your camper in the designated spots, and with a bit of luck (or if you ask), enjoy a view of the estuary. No entertainment, no swimming pool: you are in a classified area. Restaurants are available nearby.
