The Tuilières and Sanadoire Rocks

The Roche Tuilière (1288 m) and the Roche Sanadoire (1286 m) dominate the Vallée du Chausse and mark the boundary between the Monts Dore and the massif of the Banne d’Ordanche.

They are part of the Massif Central in the Puy-de-Dôme department.

Originally, these two enormous rocks originated from two volcanoes that have been significantly eroded by glaciers.

These two roches Tuilière and Sanadoire can be easily observed from a parking area located at the col de Guéry.

Just a little further south, you will find the lac de Guéry which can be the subject of a beautiful hike.

After a rather sporty and wooded first part, the second part of the circuit, more peaceful and at higher elevations, will offer you magnificent viewpoints on the Roches Tuilière and Sanadoire, true geological curiosities, and the tranquil valley of the Ruisseau de Fontsalade.

On the D983, about 1.5 km north of the Col de Guéry, park at the small
parking area near the intersection of the D27 and D983.
