Path "At the Xettes Truant School"

The interpretive trail "At the School of the Xettes" is an educational walking route accessible to families, groups, and schools. It invites you to discover the natural heritage of the Hautes Vosges through several themes related to the old school and its immediate surroundings, as well as two loops in the forest.
These pass through protected peat bogs, managed by the Conservatory of Natural Spaces of Lorraine, in partnership with the municipality of Gérardmer and the National Forests Office.
Please note: it is not possible to park directly at the Xettes school where the offices of the Conservatory of Natural Spaces of Lorraine are located.
Please prefer the parking lot of the Tourist Office (Place des Déportés). The start and finish are located at the foot of the Xettes slope at the beginning of the Montée du Château d'Eau. Follow the signage with the image of a young man equipped with a walking stick (see photo).
Please note: the first 2 kilometers consist of a significant ascent of about twenty minutes during which you will need to catch your breath. Traverse them quietly at your own pace!
If you wish to shorten the hike and lessen the level of difficulty, it is also possible to park at the health trail parking lot (Pépinière des Xettes) and to discover from there the 2 marked loops that leave on either side of the parking lot.
