Circuit of the Lévézou Mountains (cyclotourism)

Travel the hilly roads of Lévézou with this circuit starting from Vezins, a village dominated by its castle. You will enjoy magnificent viewpoints. You will pass through the charming towns of Lévézou, including Saint Léons, where Micropolis, the City of Insects, pays tribute to the native son: Jean Henri Fabre, the famous entomologist. You will start your circuit at an altitude of 930m in Vezins, a village proudly dominated by its castle, owned by the De Vezins family for over 900 years. You will head towards La Clau, an ancient Templar commandery. And you will catch a glimpse of the Puech del Pal, the highest peak of Lévézou at 1155m, from where the Viaur springs. You will cycle to Saint Léons, the birthplace of entomologist Jean Henri Fabre. Micropolis, the city of insects, is located in this village and invites you to discover the wonderful world of... insects. It features 15 exhibition halls and 70 species of living insects. A 3D cinema and a giant tactile wall fascinate visitors. The outdoor route, set to music, leads us to Monsieur Carnaval. You will then reach Saint Laurent du Lévézou, a village with 3 fountains; water is omnipresent in Lévézou. You will catch sight of Puech Monseigne, which rises to 1128m. You will reach Mauriac de Lévézou and the Roucous. You will climb to 1000m before returning to Vezins, your starting point. If you wish to take a longer route, you can join the marked circuit to circle around Lake Pareloup. A 37-kilometer linking route guides you to this circuit. This route takes you along the road of the churches in the Lévézou mountains. Thus, you will pass near the churches of Saint Etienne de Viauresque and Saint Julien de Fayret. You will cross the villages of Ségur and Curan before reaching Salles Curan.
