The Champ du Feu is the highest point in the Bas-Rhin at 1099 m. Its altitude hay vegetation and its raised bogs make it a natural space that is as fragile as it is exceptional. At the summit, the belvedere tower was erected in 1898 by the Vosges Club. It is the symbol of the Champ du Feu. The toponym Champ du Feu is the subject of many hypotheses. It may come from Vehfeld or cattle field, from a deformation of the name Champ des fées or Champ du faîte (the summit) or even from the fires of the charcoal burners...
