Tourmalet-Aspin-Tourmalet

Mountain ride that goes over the Tourmalet twice and includes the Aspin along the way. The Tourmalet, at 2115m, is the highest pass in the Pyrenees. Together with the Aubisque and the Galibier, it is one of the three in the Tour de France. From Luz-Saint-Sauveur, the Tourmalet is a very consistent climb of nearly 8%. The climb begins immediately upon leaving Luz-Saint-Sauveur. In the forest, the gradient hovers around 8%. After 4 kilometers, there is a small section where you can catch your breath, but it steadily climbs again up to Barèges, including a small section reaching 12% just before Barèges. After Barèges, you leave the forest and enter the meadows. One less demanding section appears before the wheels, but after that, it again heads towards 9%. However, the best is saved for the final kilometer with an average of 10.5% and sections up to 13%. This pass rewards you with beautiful alpine meadows, flocks of sheep, and fantastic views from the winding road. But the question is whether you can truly enjoy those long stretches of around 9 and 10 percent?
