It was in the middle of the 18th century that Mandrin challenged and robbed the tax farmers, charged by the King of France with collecting taxes: the taille, the gabelle, or the octroi. This route starting from Marnans takes you into the Chambaran forest, at the heart of which the famous contrabandist from Dauphiné used to find refuge.
