The Cobergher bike route flirts with the French border. You set off from Adinkerke, but you immediately cycle through to the French Hondschoote. This cycling route is centered around the Moeren. This is a 3,000 ha agricultural area with rectangular plots and perpendicular ditches. There used to be a large inland lake here, but it was drained in the 17th century by Wenzel Cobergher. You cycle back to your starting point along the French-Flemish Houtland and the inland dunes of Ghyvelde and Cabour. Fun fact: Hondschoote was an important Flemish city in the Middle Ages.
