Shaftesbury

This is a village in the north of Dorset, on the edge of the beautiful area of Cranborne Chase. Shaftesbury is known for the lovely street leading to Gold Hill. Shaftesbury is a village in the north of the county of Dorset, South England. It has more than six thousand inhabitants and is located on the edge of a beautifully protected hilly area, Cranborne Chase & West Wiltshire Downs. Part of the village is the stunning and frequently photographed Gold Hill (see photo), where the museum of the same name is also located. Another attraction is the site where Shaftesbury Abbey once stood, now featuring a museum and gardens. Further afield, there are more beautiful locations to visit, such as the famous Stourhead Gardens, Dinton Park, Old Wardour Castle, Sherborne Castle, and Sherborne Old Castle.
