6. These little clay figures were called shabti. Ancient Egyptians believed that shabti would magically come alive and do their work for them in the afterlife. So they made lots of them.
Look closely at the shabti. Can you see the Egyptian hieroglyphs? Each doll was inscribed with a 'spell' to do a particular job.
