It was a popular photo spot for hikers on the Hadrian's Wall Path: the Sycamore Gap Tree. However, in September 2023, two hikers discovered to their surprise that the tree had suddenly been cut down. British police have arrested a 16-year-old boy suspected of deliberately destroying the tree.
