Pretty much flat, with one;y a hill or two. Starting in the quiet Victorian seaside resort of Silloth and heading along the picturesque Solway Coast, with lovely estuary scenery and great views across the water to Criffel. Reaching Bowness-on-Solway, where Hadrian's Wall had one terminus and an immense railway bridge crossed the Solway to Annan. Thence back via quiet roads and pastoral scenery. lots of nature reserves. glorious gorse in late s[ring and summer. Not to mention the Church of the former Holme Cultram Abbey. Several pubs may be found along the route, tea rooms, too. Nearest railway station is at Wigton. Includes a chunk of NCR72, Hadrian's Cycle Way.
