Routing: Recreational cycling - nicest, Recreational cycling - shortest, Manually

So, why go to the Peak District if you don't want to ride up and down hills? Well, there are some great traffic-free rail trails offering some really good scenery. This route uses two: The Manifold Trail and the Tissington Trail. Both, popular, expect them to be busy; but enjoy the relatively easy riding following a hilly ride to Waterhouses (the southern end of the Manifold Trail) and the road route between Hulme End and the junction with the Tissington Trail at the top of the hill out of Hartington. Expect a fair amount of traffic between Hulme End and the Tissington Trasil, especially in the tourist season. So, thisn has some good climbs, and descents, especially into and out of Ilam, but it is not stupidly hilly and has some of the best scenery in this southern part of the Peak District. Take your time. given the amount of folk on the Manifold and Tissington Trails, you will probably have to; and if you can get up the hill to Ilam Moor quickly, you should be a pro.
