The Taxiarchis church is the picturesque little church by the harbor of Vathi. On September 6th, there is a big celebration every year here to honor the patron saint of the church and also that of the slightly higher located monastery with a similar name (Taxiorchon Monastery). From the church in Vathi, you can see the sun rising over the Katsistria mountain pass and then follow its climb to the south along the slope of Mount Katsistria.
