On this spot you can find plenty of frangosika or prickly pears (Opuntia stricta). This is a species of cactus from southern North America, Central America, the Caribbean, and northern South America. This means that the ancient or medieval Greeks never saw this type of plant here in Greece. It can become a quite aggressive invasive species. Harvesting the prickly fruit requires a quite specific technique. Don't try it unless somebody with experience shows you.
