Porto Heli is located on a beautiful safe, natural harbour, opposite the ruins of Ancient Halieis. Halieis was a large settlement of farmers and fishermen and remains are visible on land (the Acropolis) and just under the sea (the communal baths) at the opposite end of the town. Artifacts from the site are on display in various museums, including Spetses and the Archaeological Museum of the Peloponnese in Nafplio.
