

Rock arches or natural arches such as this are geomorphologically very unstable. They are bound to collapse in "near geological times". In this case, the arch is caused by rockfall from the cliffs of the canyon. You will notice a fault on the north side, and you can also see that the construction of the arch is made of individual rock boulders. So it s different from the famous weather-eroded arches you know from e.g. Arches National Park in the US.
