The castle of Triana is located in the homonymous district east of Roccalbegna, which originated as an ancient rural settlement in the early Middle Ages.
The place has been mentioned since 760, but the existence of the castle is confirmed only by the division of the Aldobrandeschi properties in 1216, when it was assigned to the Santa Fiora branch. In 1388, Triana was purchased by the Sienese family of Piccolomini, who made it the seat of a rural lordship during the sixteenth century.
