The museum is housed in an old building dating back to the 14th century.
The exhibition displays a variety of artifacts of Hellenic (from the nearby colony of Himera) and Roman origin , including a remarkable array of marble statues. The historical-artistic section contains some valuable works, including a fifteenth-century polyptych by Gaspare da Pesaro and an Annunciation on wood from the Flemish school .
A section dedicated to the 19th century of Termita and two rooms featuring the work of local sculptor Filippo Sgarlata have recently opened. The tour is completed by the mineralogical and malacological collections and a chapel with frescoes from the 15th century.
