Hovelingen is located in the west of Luxembourg near the Belgian city of Arlon in the Schweicher Valley. Surrounded by a large forest area, the village borders Beckerich to the north and Elvingen to the east. On the Belgian side lies the small village of Heckbous. The CR 301 runs through the village.
