The play ponds of Staatsbosbeheer are hidden in the green, in the middle of the nature reserves. Some puddles were created naturally, others by digging away sand. As a result, the depth differs per puddle. In any case, it is pure nature everywhere and the water quality is good.
You can enter the play pond without any problem. You don't have to worry about going under quickly. The bottom slopes slowly. In the summer it can be very busy, because everyone is looking for the water. Fortunately, there is still plenty of peace and nature to be found in the area around the pond.
In the Sleenerzand forestry lies Kibbelkoele, a swimming lake that was created by sand extraction. It is located on the road from Schoonoord to Sleen and has a spacious sandy beach, picnic facilities, toilets (one for the disabled) and a kiosk. The quality of the water is excellent.
