The statue of Johan de Witt is a 20th-century monument in the Plaats in The Hague, in memory of Grand Pensionary Johan de Witt. It was created by Frederik Engel Jeltsema.
Johan de Witt, lord of Zuid- and Noord-Linschoten, Snelrewaard, Hekendorp, and IJsselvere, was the Grand Pensionary of the County of Holland for nineteen years during the First Stadtholderless Period, making him the most important politician of the Republic of the Seven United Netherlands. On August 20, 1672, De Witt and his brother Cornelis were murdered.
