This watermill was first mentioned in a document from 1227 by Duke Henry I of Brabant who donated a third part of the mill to the nunnery in Postel. In 1275, the possessions of this monastery passed to the Premonstratensian Priory of Postel. In 1331, in a document by John I of Brabant, this mill was first mentioned as a banmill of this priory. In 1336 the milling came into the possession of this priory, while in 1345 the mulder sold all his possessions to the priory. Opinions were rather divided about property rights in the past, which were rather complicated.
