Town Hall of Bolsward

The town hall of Bolsward also appears in the Suske en Wiske album Elfstedenstunt. The town hall of Bolsward is a municipal building in Bolsward built between 1614-1617, replacing a building from 1474. The town hall is constructed in the style of Frisian mannerism. Above the staircase landing, which was renovated in 1768, there are three statues with golden objects above the main entrance: a scale, an anchor, and a book. Above them is another statue and a sundial. The town hall has an octagonal tower with a carillon. In the basement, there was also a weighing house, making it one of the Waaggebouwen in Friesland that was housed in a town hall. A large scale still hangs there. The prison gate led to the prison located at the top of the building.
