Hilversum

"Hilversum, media city." This is how the city presents itself.
Hilversum is also known for architect Dudok and his masterpiece: the town hall.
However, Hilversum offers more: beautiful neighborhoods (end of the 19th century - 1930s), tree-lined avenues, lovely gardens, interesting city villas, old broadcasting buildings, more Dudok architecture such as schools and homes, diverse neighborhoods, etc. And the city is almost entirely surrounded by beautiful nature reserves. Only the center is not particularly appealing, at least for architecture lovers...
Hilversum is pleasantly easy to navigate and therefore easy to walk. There are already some walking routes: two Dudok routes and the Footsteps Trail. These are described and signposted; descriptions can be found online.
But there is so much more to walk!
Two major loops around Hilversum take you through all the interesting residential areas and along or through nature reserves. The route Around Hilversum partly runs through nature reserves. The Round of Hilversum goes entirely through residential neighborhoods.
There are four Approach Routes that all start at the (bus) station Hilversum. They intersect with the Round and all end at the Around route. Want shorter walks? You can creatively combine the routes to create smaller loops.
