Zonnemaire is a village in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It is a part of the municipality of Schouwen-Duiveland, and lies about 19 kilometres southwest of Hellevoetsluis.Zonnemaire was named after Sonnemare, the water between the former islands of Bommenede and Schouwen. Zonnemarie is a road village which was first mentioned in 985 when it became owned by the Count of Holland. The current village developed after the Zonnemairepolder which was reclaimed in 1401.
