Doornenburg is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland with 2709 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2009). The village is located at the junction of the Rhine into the Pannerdensch Canal and the Waal.Due to this strategic location at the junction between the two rivers, Doornenburg is best known for Doornenburg Castle. At the time, the television series Floris was filmed here. Fort Pannerden is another attraction. This fort was restored in 2011; The fort can be viewed from the outside and it will be opened to visitors in the future.
