Beuningen ) is a village in the Dutch province of Overijssel. In 2014, the village had a population of 985. It is located on the river Dinkel, in a predominantly agricultural area, more than a kilometer south of Denekamp.
Beuningen is known around 1100 as Boninge. From 1148 onwards, Boninghen, Boninchen, Boningem and Boninghem appear as variants. -Chen, him or him means house; the name then means house of, or descendants of, Bono. It is probably Baniningi, which occurs around 900, the older form of Boninge.
