On all our ships it is possible to take bicycles, mopeds or (motor) scooters with you during the crossing. This is capacity-related: it differs per ship how many can be used. You may have to wait for the next ship when it's busy.

Marken was once an island, surrounded by the Gouwzee and the Markermeer. In 1957, the island was connected to the mainland by a dike, making it a peninsula. Unlike their neighbors in Volendam, the Markers started fishing much later. Because the island often flooded, before the construction of the Afsluitdijk, the soil was very fertile and the people could live off the land.
