The Muntwal houses, Muntwal 11-23 in 's-Heerenberg are a national monument. At the corner of Jodenstraetjen and the present Muntwal in 's-Heerenberg stood a house called Francken Toorn until 1891. In the 16th century, it was owned by Diederik van de Loe, provost of the chapter of Saint Martin in Emmerik. The house was demolished in the mentioned year to make way for the brush factory; brush manufacturing was the only industry that 's-Heerenberg was rich in at that time. The factory soon became too small, and the brush factory found a newly built location on Molenpoortstraat where the Molenpoort shopping center is now located.
