Aldeboarn is a village in Heerenveen in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 1545 in January 2017. Aldeboarn has an iconic church tower.The village was first mentioned in 1243 as "jn Bornde". "Boarn" is a river name which means bank. Alde is usually added to distinguish from another village perhaps Oosterboorn. Aldeboard developed in the 11th or 12th century along the Boorne river as an elongated terp village. It became a trading place, and developed into a regional centre.
