Geldrop is a town in the municipality of Geldrop-Mierlo (North Brabant province), located on the Eindhovens Canal and intersected by the Kleine Dommel and the Eindhoven - Weert railway line. As of 2015, the town has 28,664 inhabitants. Geldrop is situated in the southeast of the Netherlands, about six kilometers southeast of Eindhoven. Historically, Geldrop originated from 3 centers: the actual Geldrop, Braakhuizen, which lies to the east of the Kleine Dommel, and Hoog Geldrop, to the west of the railway line, the main settlement of the former municipality of Zesgehuchten.
The municipality of Geldrop merged with Zesgehuchten in 1921, although it lost a part to the municipality of Eindhoven in 1972, which included the Tivoli district and the hamlets of Riel and Gijzenrooi. On January 1, 2004, it merged with Mierlo to become Geldrop-Mierlo.
