Mill de Hoop

De Hoop is a flour mill built in 1901 in the Dutch village of Loenen aan de Vecht. This scaffolding mill replaced a predecessor that burned down in 1900. The fire was probably caused by a steam engine that was used to grind. De Hoop was in operation until 1949 and milled wheat for baking bread. After that, the mill was used as a grain silo for a long time. In 1963 it came into the possession of the former municipality of Loenen. In 2005, the mill, from which the interior was removed, was restored again. Since 1975, De Hoop has been owned by the Stichting De Utrechtse Molens. Since the mills of this foundation are operated by Het Utrechts Landschap, it has set up an information point in the mill shop about De Hoop and other monuments in the mill.

De Hoop can usually be visited on Saturdays between 11:00 and 17:00 and/or when the mill is running and the blue pennant is hanging out.
