Although the names Vlietland and Vlietlanden are used interchangeably on many websites for this recreation area, the administrator of the area is stricter: "Vlietland is the only correct name for the recreation area by the Vliet opposite Voorschoten and located between Leiden and Leidschendam. Vlietlanden is a nature reserve near Vlaardingen managed by the association Natuurmonumenten."
