The Bergum power station, also known as the Burgum power station, was commissioned in 1973. The plant is located in Bergum in the Dutch province of Friesland. The natural gas-fired power plant has two combi units, each with a capacity of 332 megawatts. Engie Energie Nederland, formerly Electrabel, is the owner of the plant. The original owner was PEB Friesland, which later merged with three other energy production companies to form EPON. In 2001, Engie Nederland acquired EPON. The power plant obtains the necessary cooling water from the adjacent Bergumermeer.
