New water tower

The new water tower in the Dutch municipality of Tiel is located on the Fabriekslaantje near the Echteldsedijk. The water tower was built in 1946. It is 35 meters high and has a water reservoir of 500 m³.
The old water tower on the Echteldsedijk was built in 1890, to a design by the Utrechtse Waterleiding Maatschappij. Water towers were primarily used to keep the pressure on the water pipes. The pumping station originally included several buildings; In addition to the water tower with extension, there was a house, a steam pumping station with a chimney to pump the seepage water to the reservoir in the tower, a filter installation building and an office. During the Second World War, the old water tower was largely destroyed.
