The Grote- or St. Catharinakerk in the Dutch city of Nijkerk was built in 1461 and rebuilt after a city fire in 1540. The church consists of a nave, with two aisles and a choir.
Saint Catherine, after whom the church is named, refers to the legendary Catherine of Alexandria. In the current Roman Catholic church of Nijkerk there is an old statue of this saint, which would once have stood in the Grote Kerk. Nowadays the church is usually called 'Grote Kerk' and no longer 'Sint Catharinakerk'. The church is still in use for church services. In 1594 the church officially became Protestant. The Reformed Municipality of Nijkerk belongs to the Protestant Church in the Netherlands.
