The Kieldrecht Polders is a polder complex in the municipalities of Hulst and Sint-Gillis-Waas. It consists of the Groot-Kieldrechtpolder, the Klein-Kieldrechtpolder, the Nieuw-Kieldrechtpolder, and the Konings-Kieldrechtpolder. The places Kieldrecht and Nieuw-Namen are located in the Kieldrecht Polders.
Already in the Middle Ages, there was a Kieldrechtpolder that was part of Waasland. It frequently suffered from storm surges, but also from military inundations. When the Spanish troops captured Hulst in 1594, the States' troops breached the dikes of the polder. The water created several channels, which are the origin of the current creek system. This includes the Zandbergse or Rotte Kreek, the Vlaamse Kreek, the Zestigvoet, and the Vuilmuil. Through the Vlaamse Kreek, this system was connected to the Graauwse Kreek and the Western Scheldt. Furthermore, to the south of the village of Kieldrecht lies the Grote Geul.
