The Wijnhaven is a harbor in the center of Rotterdam. The Wijnhaven is connected to the Oude Haven and the Leuvehaven. The Witte Huis and the Mariniersmuseum are located at the Wijnhaven. The André van der Louwbrug crosses over the Wijnhaven. Along the harbor are the Maasboulevard, Boompjes, Wijnhavenpunt, Scheepsmakerskade, and the Wijnkade.
The Wijnhaven was excavated in 1613 as part of the construction of the Waterstad, the area of Rotterdam between Schielands Hoge Zeedijk and the Nieuwe Maas. The historical buildings around the Wijnhaven were lost in the bombing of Rotterdam on May 14, 1940. Only the east side of the Wijnhaven near the Witte Huis was spared at that time. During the construction of the Willemsspoortunnel in the 1990s, the remaining buildings were demolished and rebuilt after the completion of the railway tunnel.
