Water source and poomp in Brigidabron De Wesch Noorbeek
The source of the stream De Noor is in the Noorbeek hamlet of De Wesch. The stream is the only watercourse in the Netherlands that flows towards Belgium. The spring is named after the local patroness of the Roman Catholic parish, Saint Brigida.
A kind of water basin has been built over the source of the Noor with a beautiful bluestone arch. The inhabitants of Noorbeek and surrounding hamlets used to come and get their drinking water from the well. This was often done with two buckets attached to a wooden well. Later, a pump was made at the source. A pump was attached to the brick pump column with a natural stone crown. Only the iron bands with which the pump installation was attached to the column are still visible. The pump system has disappeared. In the old photo (ca. 1920) the old pump installation is still clearly visible
