The Polish military cemetery Breda is the largest Polish cemetery in the Netherlands. It is located on the Ettensebaan near the Princenhage district in Breda, near Zuylen Cemetery.
The cemetery was opened on June 24, 1963. It has more than 160 graves of Polish soldiers who died in the Netherlands during the Second World War. Many fought in the Polish 1st Armoured Division which, under the command of General Stanisław Maczek, liberated Breda on 29 October 1944. Several dozen soldiers are buried here under a pseudonym. Poland was occupied by the Germans at the time, but the Polish army was still active abroad. To protect the family left behind in Poland, the soldiers wore pseudonyms. The information board of the War Graves Foundation indicates the real names in combination with the pseudonym used.
