As it used to be
You look out over the Botshol nature reserve, an area with large lakes, narrow ditches, reed land and swamp forest. Here you can still imagine what the landscape was like, when the first peat workers were busy with their heavy work here.
You can still see here and there the narrow pieces of land, where the peat was laid to dry. Peat extraction has created large and small puddles.
In the clear water there are many rare aquatic plants, such as the Great Nymphwort, and the carnivorous water plant Bladderwort.
