The Smidse has been in the possession of the Bessems family since 1860 . Then a forge with a farm.
As early as 1900, Grandma Bessems had tourists camp in their tents on the meadow opposite De Smidse. This actually laid the foundation for Herberg De Smidse. In addition to the forge, she started a shop where at first mainly hardware, but later also coffee, rice and other necessities were sold. Actually a kind of Sinkel shop.
The dining room (current Inn) was set up on the site where the shop was located at the time. Later the house became a guest house for summer guests. The old forge disappeared and the shop continued here. The store was closed in the 1970s. Today there is an apartment of the Smithy here.
Here is still the atmosphere of earlier times and many things in the Inn are reminders of this.
