The Hennipsloot is a waterway of 2.47 kilometers between the Rottemeren and the Ringvaart of the Zuidplaspolder near Zevenhuizen. From the Rotte one goes to the Hennipsloot via the Zevenhuizer Verlaat and sails through the ditch through the movable Catges bridge in Zevenhuizen to the ring canal.
In earlier times, there were loading and unloading ramps along the Hennipsloot, where ships moored that came to get peat from the dyeing area in the area. City waste was taken by peat skippers as a return load to the areas where peat was collected. A lot of material was found in 2013 during the dredging of the ditch, ranging in age from around the middle of the 16th century to the beginning of the 20th century.
