Rozenoord was a fusillade place at the Rozenoord tea house on the Amsteldijk in Amsterdam. On eight different days between 18 January and 14 April 1945, a total of probably one hundred and forty Dutch people were executed here. Of them, a hundred are known by name. Every year on 4 May, the victims are commemorated at the monument at the site of the disaster.
The first fusillade at Rozenoord took place after the Amsterdam Knokploeg, the Council of Resistance and the Order Service had protested together against the registration of workers in the context of the Arbeitseinsatz. They had attacked nine workers and set fire to the school where the registration took place. The first reaction of the Germans was to shoot five men from the House of Detention in front of that school. After that, eleven more men were executed at Rozenoord. All were buried at the Bloemendaal Cemetery.
