The Bethunepolder is located just northeast of the village of Maarssen in the municipality of Stichtse Vecht and is sandwiched between the Maarsseveense- and Loosdrechtse Plassen. The polder is part of the Utrecht Noorderpark, an almost 6,000-hectare redevelopment plan in which recreation and nature conservation are central. The Bethunepolder is home to many special animal and plant species.
